Freedom School by LEAD Malaysia
On 16 – 17 March 2018, Freedom School was held at EDC Hotels & Resorts, Sintok Kedah. It was organized by Institute for Leadership and Development Studies (LEAD), a public policy and leadership training consultant. The program was held for two days and one night which consist of six modules on political economy. It was joined by 39 participants whom are the students of two local universities which are Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) and Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM).The objective of the program is to train participants, especially students and youth leaders about classical liberalism – constitutionalism, free market economy and limited but effective government. Over the two days program, participants were involved in the discussions, presentations, debates, and fun games on the topics.
The program was held on Friday to Saturday, following the weekend holiday for Kedah which is different from other states. Some participants arrived late because they have class on the Friday evening. However, the program was successfully executed without any major problems. Most participants expressed their gratitude to the organizer for having this program. This is because they get to learn something new which they think is very important and interesting in understanding how the government works. Although some of them didn’t have prior knowledge on topics discussed, they are willing to learn and involve in the activities.
